2) Research 2: Contact sheets

Whilst researching through contact sheet photography, I found I preferred just regular scans of contact sheets that isn't intended to be one piece more interesting. Using multiple images for one piece as a set can have a greater impact and show multiple points of view on something (no pun intended). I also liked looking through the images in order from start to finish; it's interesting seeing the changes the photographer makes to the shot, as well as it acting as a timeline through a a shoot or day out. A lot of non photographers often discredit a photo by saying something like "oh yeah it's a nice photo, but they probably took about a hundred to get that one" I think using a contact sheet as a piece of work shows evidence of their thinking and also showcases photos from a shoot that the viewer may not have seen otherwise as the photographer didn't feel is was good enough or didn't like it. It also reminds me a bit of when you can watch some of the deleted scenes from film, and seeing what didn't make the cut.
